A powerful ‘mans’ movie documenting the symbolic coming together of Black and white South Africa. Freemans accent veers between south JoBurg and South Carolina at times but he takes on Mandela’s mantle perfectly. Damon plays Pienaar the captain of the SpingBoks, with all of the depth a role with only two dimensions requires.
The rugby scenes at the end are good if not predicable, the interaction of police men and little black boy whilst the game is in progress raises a why smile and is a cute and fitting ending.
Beautifully shoot and acted Brit flick about a precious teenage frustrated with her humdrum life. Alfred Molina delivers a powerful performance as her blustering father and newly crowned Bafta winner Carey Mulligan performace as Jenny is a delight.
The innocence of the time (1961) is write large in the acceptance of David, Jenny's older suitor and her family. The period costume and set are only two shades less beautiful then an episode of Mad Men.
Be careful what you wish for. Branson has a history of buying cheap and not investing in projects. What he will do is extract every ounce of PR value out of Palace while not investing in the squad or infrastructure, his pockets are not deep, he is not an Abramovich.
