About Notting Hill CoronetThis year the Coronet reached the grand old age of 107, and despite the closure scares of last year (which had the whole of Notting Hill up in arms), this much-loved landmark on the London film circuit is still going strong.
The beautiful listed building recently underwent a thorough refurbishment and restoration programme. The inside still evokes Edwardian decadence and everything is still very plush and rich, but they’ve added the very modern upgrades of a multi-track digital sound system to compete with the latest multiplexes, and an impressive ’cinemacannica’ projection system, as found in the Odeon Leicester Square .
But then, you don’t go to the Coronet for the latest mod cons, but rather the thrill of experiencing the pictures as they used to be. Waiting for the film to start, you almost expect to see a newsreel to come flickering on and the vendors in straw boaters to come out. The less romantic will be relieved to hear that despite the antique surroundings the programme is thoroughly modern with all the latest Hollywood offerings - the Coronet remains a cinema for the people, not just film buffs.
If you haven’t been in a while then get to know the Coronet again, it’ll remind you what the movies are all about.

I love the faded grandeur of the Coronet. The steep rows of chairs, theatre interior and the superb balcony really make for a special movie going experience.
The absolute best thing about the coronet is the cheap tuesday and the fact that they dont mind if you take your own food! now that is cool. we took fish and chips from round the corner last time!
This cinema has a lot of character, and the old stage balcony feeling creates drama. On Tuesdays the tickets are only 3.50 each, but the downside is that the old seats are small and my bum was sore by the end of the movie...not the most comfortable seats, but can't beat a night at the movies for the price.
Fab old cinema, that is slightly worn around the edges, that however adds to its luster. Suprising large on the inside and with great views from the balcony seats. Its also cheap in on Tuesday.
Great old cinema - proper size with circle and stalls, the fully monty. Belongs to Kensington Temple, the charismatic christians, of all people. It's probably about the last cinema that you could enjoy a fag with movie. I think they banned smoking about 2 or 3 years ago.
