We booked a table at for two at 7:45 - it was a bit last-minute, we said apologetically, but they said it was fine.
We arrived to be told that the only table available upstairs was one right next to the drafty door (5 degrees C outside) and we would have to vacate it by 8:45 - obviously a no-go. Would we like to sit downstairs? "It's very nice."
We said OK, and were led down the stairs to the basement seating area, and pointed at a table. As we looked around, my eyes began to sting and my throat constricted, and my girlfriend started coughing. God only knows what kind of cleaning products they use down there, but when mixed with a hint of gas and a tang of what smelt like urine, the effect is unbearable. As far as I could tell through my clouded vision, there is no ventilation fan.
Needless to say, we left, and had a great meal somewhere else. If you're keen on trying this place out and have any sense of smell or are keen on breathing, make sure they guarantee you a table upstairs."

Veronica said on 17th February ... "We went tonight to this restaurant and had a bad experience as the service is really TERRIBLE!! We will never go back...We went with a group of friends and ended up extremly upset as we were treated awful by the waitress. First, they advised us to order all alcoholic drinks before eleven as they do not have license to sell alcohol after eleven. So we ordered 3 bottles of wine (for 6 people). They brought them to the table but did not open the third. As they took soooo long to bring our main courses we just had half of the second bottle left when the seconds arrived so we asked the waitress to open the third one. She refused saying that it was already eleven (however she added it to the bill!!)
The food was ok, more on the average side (and the fish which supposely was boneless was full of bones...and the lobster pasta from the Mediterraneo is much better ).
When we finished our mains we asked for desserts and coffees and they said that the kitchen was closed (they didnt advise us before and were very rude with us).
We were also unkindly asked to leave just after eating our seconds, at a time when most restaurants are already open.
The service was very poor and we were very disappointed about this restaurant."

Steven Melow said on 20th January ... "I was in England back in November. I am from the US just out side of Detroit.
We were at Centonove around the 28th of Nov. It was my Niece, Aunt, Uncle and my self. I was in London for about 2 weeks, went to Scotland, Paris and also around the city of london. I must say that it was the best meal I had during the whole trip. For startes we had the BRUSCHETTA, which was great. For our main course my Uncle, Aunt and I had the LINGUINE ALLO SCOGLIO. I must say it was incredible. The mussles we tender and really had a great flavor. The Longoustines were also firm and had great flavor as well. The white wine sauce with the olive oil, cherry tomatoes, Chilli and garlic just really topped it off. I prefer a lighter sauce and it was just the way I liked it. I have had similar dishes here in the states around Detroit. Some were good and some were so so, BUT none were as tasteful and had that extra flare that the chilli added. Just the right bite not over powering.
We had a nice bottle of pinot grigio wine. It added that little something extra to the meal. My Niece had the "GNOCCHI BROCCOLI E SALSICCIA ". She has had gnocchi here in the states before and she usually likes it, this time she was really impressed. She said it was better then any gnocchi she has had. Thats amazing since she is a very picky eater.
For dessert we had the TIRAMISU’ . It was different then any Tiramisu I have had here in the states, but by far the best. The atmosphere was great. Not a overly big place, so we got lucky to get there when we did. Had great seats. The decor of the restaurant was really, I would say kinda hip. The tables were nice and had alot of room. The view of the kitchen was a bonus.
The service was top notch. I believe the owner or manager waited and served us. He was very friendly easy to talk to and was really interested in making sure we were all pleased. He recommended the wine which was perfect. I even had a chance to talk to him right before we left. I wanted to thank him for the great dinning experience. I told him that we just had dinner 2 nights before at the Eiffle Tower in Paris and even though the meal there was good it didn't compare to Centonove. He thanked me for coming and really knowing my food. He said that just seeing me enjoy and talking to me about how I enjoyed my dinner really made his day. I told him it was his resturaunt and meal that made mine. I am not sure if he remembers us, but we will remember our experience.
I am definately going back to London in the future. Not sure when but I am going back to Centonove. I am looking forward to it. "

Laura Heaps, MyVillage: said on 18th June ... "Team MyVillage are rarely all on the same continent at the same time let alone the same restaurant. So it has to be a pretty good eaterie which gets us all together...so local favourite Centonove it was.
With an invitingly cosy and authentic atmosphere, Centonove is the polar opposite of most of the anodine, style-centric restaurants of London. From the quirky artworks on the wall to the peek window in to the kitchen and the long, sociable tables the restaurant has the feel of a true Italian restaurant, rather than the usual themey take.
When it comes to food Centonove's menu is comprehensive without being over long, taking in pasta, meat and pizza dishes. Tempting enough to confuse even the most decisive diner, we eventually settled on a selection of dishes ranging from the Paccheri Vongole e Asparagi to the Salsiccia e Spinaci Pizza. Every plate was hungrily received, even by the non-carb eating section who might normally be left disappointed by an Italian meal, suggesting that the normally picky MyVillage crew were satisfied by authentic, freshly cooked dishes.
Service from the all-Italian staff was attentive without being overly so, drinks were refilled where needed and food served quickly enough so that no-one was left waiting with an empty space in front of them (so often a problem with large groups).
However, while most aspects of the meal were enjoyed none was met with quite so much excitement as the desserts. The Tiramisu was a million miles away from the usual plastic wrapped freezer fodder served up in restaurants while the Pannacotta was pronounced the best in London, by our resident Venetian no less. Meanwhile the Boss added an extra couple of laps to his exercise schedule when the temptation of an oozingly chocolatey Fondante Al Ciocollato proved too much.
If ever the team find themselves in the same postcode again, there won't be any arguments about where to eat..."

Delicious meat, lovely fish and, of course a home made "Tiramisu'. A lovely rainbow in a Smoky & Crying London Sky!
Also congratulations for a Cool Web-Site and for the amazing photos!"

Ben Grundemann said on 26th March ... "Since my girlfriend and I moved into this area about 6 month ago we tried every Italian restaurant in this area and choose this as our favourite. We now go there at least twice a month and love it! Best pizzas we had in London so far, meat and fish dishes very good, great selection of wine and the salads (artichoke!) are to die for.
The prices are absolutely reasonable and the service very good and fast. Strongly recommend!"

guido lami said on 29th March ... "Finally a great italian restaurant, the food is fresh and genuine, the menu mixes traditional italian dishes with a mix of creativity and twist.
Its young and stilish, the waiters are by themselves a reason to go back, cool music and believe it or not you can have dinner at 11 in the eve."

Roifield MyVillage said on 12th March ... "Quietly the best Italian restaurant in Notting Hill. Its clientele are slightly younger than the normal patrons of the other more well known ristorantes on Kensington Park Road, this gives the small space a great atmosphere when only half full. Though the tables are a little to tightly packed in, the light and ambience are almost magical come dusk
As with most real Italian eateries you will not find too many surprises on the menu, the winning dish however is the Ravioli served with real Italian portions.
Frequented by expats by the planeload, Centonove’s food easily passes the passport test."

Joey said on 07th March ... "Centonove has some really great pizzas; excellent, in my opinion. The problem is, that even though the ladies who work there are beautiful, they are a little unfriendly. They are all Italians though, which is a plus."

Joel said on 07th March ... "Lovely restaurant with relaxed eating enviroment and really good food. Unfortunately let down by the service. Two of us ate and our main courses arrived 20 minutes apart, due to an error with our order.
Additionally the waiting staff were unfriendly and succeeded in making us feel really unwelcome. They really let down the Chef and kitchen staff who were obviously working flat out to produce great food.
In summary : The great food is let down by the poor service."

Chris Arning said on 02nd March ... "A great restaurant with unfussy, sober decor, friendly service and excellent but unpretentious food. The waitresses are affable, upbeat and attentive without being intrusive and there is a constant buzz of activity from ensuite kitchen. The pizzas are massive and great value for around £9.50 each (especially when you note the greasy, similarly priced fare from Domino's next door). I couldn’t finish mine and I had to get a doggy bag and take some slices home.
The Salsiccia e Spinachi is particularly to be recommended, goes down a treat with a green salad! Also, for those with a sweet tooth and a delicate palate, the strawberry Panacotta with orange rind is to die for!
The place seems to be frequented by real Italians (as opposed to fake ones?!?!) which is always a good sign. As an illustration of this, when we were there, there was a Roma AC Milan match going on and the excitement was palpable. When Roma scored there was an eruption of celebration from below and much hugging and masculine camaraderie going on in the kitchen."
