"From the moment I step out of the taxi I know I was in for an amazing night. We arrived and our table wasn't ready so we went to the bar and order some cocktails my boyfriend add a mojito & I had a cosmoplaliton is was gorgeous just pefect we then sat next to the fire place until our table was ready.

Our table was 2 floors down the interior was just amazing you do feel like you are a movie star. for starers I had a cocktail of crayfish, crab with avocado puree my boyfriend had the scaollops with something cant remember but they were asbolutely gorgeous, then for main I had the corn fed chicken ceaser salad, he had the lamb the lamb was so tender it just melt in your mouth. We didn't had dessert will.. he had a lemoncello & I had a bailey's And the service was just as amazing as the food.

I can't comment on the price because I didn't pay if am not paying I don't ask. But my partner did say it was cheaper than what he had expected. So over all an amazing night. "

The food was good, eggs bennedict and that sort of thing but the decor is what the makes the place. Everywhere there is something interesting to look at and the bloody marys are out of this world!"

"I took a friend there for her birthday in December. The place itself is beautiful and, to be honest, it seems like that's what you're paying for.

The waiter was clearly very inexperienced and was constantly getting told off from the head waiter to move faster, right in front of the customers! So he decided to stand and watch us eat very morsel on our plates and whisk them away before we'd even put our cutlery down. The entire evening felt as though they were more interested in getting us out of there rather than ensuring we enjoyed our time.
The food is highly overrated and we were left feeling rather hungry and dissatisfied. To top it off, the waiter accidentally gave us the lunch dessert menu, which had the same desserts as the evening menu but were significantly cheaper.

When we brought this to his attention and said he's obliged to charge us the prices shown on the menu he gave us, he just laughed!

The cocktail bar was far less tense than our meal, alhough I did wait around 25 mins to be served!

I doubt I'll be back to be honest. There are much nicer restaurants in the area with staff who actually care if you enjoy yourself!"

They charged service charge which they def were not getting and had the cheeck to be rude to us.

I would never go back there until it's under new managment, I told this to the manager and he said he does not care what we think cause they get thousands of new custemers a week. Plus all 21 of us were all hungry still after. So none of us will return. My advice to anyone is mc donalds gives better service."

"How this restaurant has got good reviews is beyond me. We only had a party of 9 people and were only presented with a Set Menu - we were not even told that we could not order a la carte when we booked. Service was so slow- We booked for 9.30 but our starter arrived at 10.45 There was no vegetarian on the set menu (3 people were vegetarian).

When asked if the chicken or salmon was free range or organic the manager has to go ask the kitchen. We ordered our 3 courses at start but after having our main course the two deserts we all opted for; they said they had run out. Why tell us at the end?

Food was average and nothing special and a lot to pay for farmed chicken. I would rather spend my money in a proper restaurant rather than this bar cum restaurant.

This place is just taking advantage of the area."

My only dissapointement was the fact that we couldn't have our table all night as they needed it back for some Royal princess!?! If you enjoy hanging out witrh the landed gentry, European Royalty the this is the place to go. If you want less in your face wealth then it might not be for you. "

Chandeliers and opulence abound. If your looking to impress a date then you cant go wrong here. My only gripe was having to wait for the table we booked at 9.30pm whcih we didn't get until 10pm. It wasn't so much of a problem though as the bar was buzzing and the women were gorgeous!"

"If you are not fussed about prices and assess the food according to taste then it is not at all bad.

I went there for dinner last weekend with 2 friends and found the steak served with mustard mash particularly good . There were free complimentary starters and the wine list was not at all bad. A great place to go for dinner if you are have been tearing it up, the previous evening and want to to be 'on the edges' of the action. We were able to keep our table for drinks, allowing us to watch the antics in the bar whilst having a have a gossip and catch up.

However, a word of warning for the girls - great bar if you are a guy - the place is full of very good looking, well groomed women who know how to hold themselves. However, if you want something more than a shiny looking banker who is happy to pull out a bulging wallet, then head around the corner to the somewhat more classy Lonsdale where you can actually get all of the above AND a decent conversation. :-) "

"The decor is one of the best in the area and the cocktails are great. However the food on the menu is the worst, most ostentacious drivel I've ever seen and tried.

I ordered a rack of lamb, and 45 minutes later 3 small chops on a dollop of mashed potato showed up. The chops were mostly fat and not what you would expect for 30 pounds. When I complained the head waitress disappeared for half and hour and I had to question her again what was going on.

The staff were rude to me despite the fact I was overly polite in my justified complaint. They threw the credit card machine at me when we left and didn't even say goodbye.

I worked in restaurants and bars when I was at university and never would I dream about treating a customer in the manner they did, especially as I was so genuinely polite.

The management have no clue and I don't think they really care. All of the locals in Notting Hill complain about the food and service and hence never go there.

They have ruined a potentially amazing restaurant, I forsee it closing in the next year or two unless the owners have more money than sense.

On the plus side, there was one nice waiter...however he didn't understand what the word "drink" meant."

"Extremely disappointed, after so much hype on the review pages, this over priced money hungry restaurant under-delivered beyond belief.

What a waste of such beautifully styled décor, to be put in the hands of people that have no idea how to treat customers. Half way through our starter we were watched by staff to ensure we were eating quick enough so that they could get the main course out on time! Forgive me, but dinner to the normal person means a small piece of time between courses to savour what you have just eaten, not to be rushed thorough three courses within record time.

The three course set menu cost £65 a head, surely this basic meal of scallops, lamb and brulee didn’t really come to over £20 per course! We were a party of no more than 20 people, together for a 30th birthday party, only to be told during the starter course they had run out of Verve Clicquot and we could have the house champagne instead. However, when we were ordered to retreat downstairs, so that the next round of poor souls could be ripped off for dinner, the bar fridges were full of Verve!

Obviously people go here for the one time experience to qualify ratings and see the fabulous décor, which is the only good thing going for this place!"

"The BBB has changed a lot of its staff over the years. It used to be an excellent place to go during the week.

This has, unfortunately, changed now.

Last weekend we arrived in a large mixed group. The bouncer didn't want to let us all in together so two of us had to wait outside for about 10 minutes.

The lady at reception was on the phone when we walked in and pushed us aside without notice. Apparently we were standing too close to the desk.

The crowd is actually quite nice and you can always meet new people in there. They have a lot of cocktails although the prices are a bit "Notting Hell". The interior makes up for the high prices though.

Altogether a nice place for a drink during the week.

Ambience in the restaurant is nice, food good but not outstanding.
Some of the staff are a bit rude which is a shame."

"A Place for Drinks - Great,
A Place for dinner - Dont bother

Arranged & reserved a table for drinks in the bar @ 7.30pm & a table for dinner at 9.30, for my other halfs surprise 30th Birthday.

Got there 1 small table & 4 chairs for 8 people !

great Cocktails - but ignore the price list - they have. Not only are the cocktails circa £9.50 each (& pretty much the only drink on offer), but then they surprise you with a 12.5% service charge - on a drink that did not come with any kind of service or table service !!!!! OK the cocktails were good - but should be.

Our party came from various locations outside London - so needed to catch 11.30 trains back (being the last trains). 45 minutes after we should have been seated - we were still in the bar awaiting our table.

We gave up in the end & walked out - going to a small brazilian restaurant around the corner.

Thanks BBB, for ruining our birthday party."

The food was good, but not spectacular, and the service was downright poor! The waiter did not know where to put the wine glasses when he had served, nearly knocked over a wine glass, then no-one cleared our table at all, despite us sitting there for 45 minutes after finishing the meal & having asked for and settled the bill.

On top of all that, we had to go back upstairs & settle our bar bill separately from the restaurant bill - to save squabbles over tips between the waiters."

Sarah is spot on: great decor, fun atmosphere - but stick to the bar. ""Really funky and unusual, Beach Blanket Babylon is deservedly one of Notting Hill's most popular venues. The interior is really impressive, all cave like and gothic but cool at the same time. The food, admittedly, is nothing special but is acceptable enough not to be offensive, don't expect to be blown away. Can be overcrowded and the staff are not always competent so may be a better bet for drinks than dinner. Worth a visit as a place to see and be seen but otherwise quite average.""

""Took my first date here the other night and i have to say it was fantastic! The place looked amazing in a way that puts all other bars and restaurants in the pale. Beautiful busts of past emperors on marble columns with diamond necklaces, chandeliers to die for, topairy trees and cast iron urns made for a totally awe inspiring evening. The staff made us feel very welcome and were hot to boot! The place was buzzing with le costes style music beeting in the background.

The drinks didn't seem at all expensive if you weigh up the decor and experience you receive. I would say that if your looking for a top top top stylish place to go for a drink or for dinner this has to be rated as one of the best london has to offer. GO!""

"" WOW! I will recommend my friends to visit this restaurant. My boyfriend surprised me with a trip to London over the weekend and on my birthday he took me to BBB for dinner and drinks. Now I love him even more:-). The service was great thanks to our waitress Victoria, the food was excellent and the drinks was to die for! The interior was too much and I loved it!!"

"Known to locals as BBB this popular Notting Hill bar, based in a huge Georgian house, has recently undergone extensive renovation to make it one of the most unique venues in London. Now fifteen years old Beach Blanket Babylon combines classy cocktail bar, opulent dining and, unusually enough, a little shopping."

""Went for dinner the other evening and i have to say the food was delicious. I understand that the place has a new head chef and it shows. I live locally and was bowled over at how much the place has changed. I'm a born again babylonian!""

""I love this place! If you want a touch of glam, excellent cocktails and lot of fun, BBB is the place to go. I a delicious dinner last week and can't wait to return for more cocktails at the weekend. Having been a local for over five years, BBB feels like it's really smartened up and I love the new cocktail and dinner menus. The barstaff are always friendly and greet me with a smile. There's no place better to be (..BBB) than by the fire, drinking cocktails with friends. Thank you to all the staff at BBB for giving us the best bar in Notting Hill.""
