| New
restaurant for Metropolitan pub
A stylish new restaurant has opened on the
first floor at the Metropolitan pub (April 2004) in Westbourne
Park. The Metropolitan is fashionable and friendly with a
traditional pub atmosphere, the opening of the restaurant
will widen the appeal for diners looking for great food and
drink in a relaxed and social atmosphere.
Head chef Charlton Antenbring, who was previously at the Chapel
in Paddington, has created a delicious menu featuring progressive
modern cuisine, amalgamating food ingredients from around
the globe. Signature dishes include tempura calamaris stuffed
with shrimps, smoked mussels, spring onion, coriander, ginger
and a sweet tamarind dressing and sautee strips of duck with
pancetta lardoons, three cress, grapes and walnut oil.
The main dishes Charlton has included on the menu have a game
influence with dishes such as pan fried fillet of springbok
with fondant yams, spiced okra and kumquat, chilli marmalade,
seared marlin steak with bok choi, citrus mash, mango, coriander
and spring onion salsa and roast rack of welsh mountain lamb
with leek gratin, root vegetable puree and a veal, balsamic
reduction. If there is any room left for dessert the banoffee
pie and raspberry, vanilla and pistachio fool come highly
recommended!
The intimate restaurant has been designed to create a welcoming
environment in the hub of one of London's urban locations.
Wooden furniture, large windows with velvet drapes and an
open fire create a relaxed haven where people can escape the
busy city to enjoy a sociable meal and glass of wine. A highlight
of the restaurant is the decked roof terrace - perfect for
al fresco dining, private parties and events.
