Paula Yates

Paula Yates will be remembered as much for her private life as her public life. In the 80's she was a common sight on yoof TV progs like The Tube where she was in her element interviewing rock stars and celebs. However it's her much publicised marriage to Bob Geldof and affair with the late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence that brought her back into the spotlight in the 90's.

The sad and wasteful death of Paula Yates rocked the Notting Hill neighbourhood and here we have created some dedicated pages to the life and loves of Paula.
Paula's Biography
The Days After Paula's Death

Paula leaves just under £14k to Tiger Lily - 06/04/01
It has emerged today that Paula Yates left just £13.956 in her will. She earned a fortune from her TV career and had assets of nearly £800.000 when she died, however once her debts were paid off only a fraction was left.

It will all go to Tiger Lily her four year old daughter by the late INXS rocker Michael Hutchence, she believed her three other daughters Trixibelle,17, Peaches,12, and 10-year-old Pixie would be well looked after by their father and her ex-husband Sir Bob Geldof.

Also stated in her will, she said that Michael Hutchence parents - who blamed her for his death- should not have access to Tiger Lily without the approval of her two guardians.

Tiger will be well looked after financially as she is the sole beneficiary of her dad's estate worth £25million. She is well looked after now by Sir Bob Geldof and lives with him and her sisters.

Tiger sole beneficiary of her fathers fortune - 02/04/01

An Australian court has ruled that Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily, daughter of the late Michael Hutchence, will be the sole beneficiary of his estate.

Arguments had raged over the former INXS singer's estimated $25 million fortune since he was found dead in a Sydney hotel room, in November 1997. Paula Yates, Tiger's mother, died last year of a heroin overdose at her Notting Hill home.

Courtney to film Paula Yates's life Courtney Love is writing a film about Paula Yates in which she intends to star. The American singer and actress, who met Paula just days before the TV presenter's death, says: 'I was born to play Paula. This is the role of a lifetime and I promise to do her justice.'

Love, the widow of Nirvana icon Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994, is currently working on a script that will chronicle the TV presenter's extraordinary life from her teenage years to her untimely death last September.

The house where television star Paula Yates died has been sold, three minutes after being listed on an estate agents website. A property investment firm snapped up the mews house in Notting Hill, for £595,000 within minutes of its listing on the Winkworth's website.

"They faxed us their bank details without even being shown around," Winkworth's agent Alex Thompson said.

The house was sold with most of its contents, including a two metre poster of Yates' dead lover Australian rock star Michael Hutchence, photographs of the couple's child Tiger Lily, and a giant Australian flag on the upstairs terrace.

Cash from the sale is expected to be split between Tiger Lily, 4, and her three half-sisters from Yates' marriage to rock star and philanthropist Sir Bob Geldof.

Bob Geldof has been awarded custody of Tiger Lily Hutchence following the death of his former wife, Paula Yates, after a High Court battle with the girl's aunt who also petitioned to care for her.

A judge awarded custody of Tiger Lily, four, to Geldof at a private hearing this week. The girl had been orphaned following the death of Paula Yates in september. Her father, the Australian rock star Michael Hutchence, was found dead, hanged from the door handle of his Sydney hotel room, three years ago.

Tiger Lily had been staying with her three half sisters, Geldof's daughters by Paula until her future was decided. Geldof was awarded temporary custody of the girl the day following his former wife's death.

Mrs justice Hogg rejected a counter-application for custody of Tiger Lily by Hutchence's half sister, Tina Shorr, who wanted to care for the girl at her home in Burbank, California. The order will be reviewed in 12 months.

At his home in Sydney, Mr Hutchence, 69, said: "We are delighted. We feel she she should be with her sisters. Bob is very pleased. He feels it is the best possible outcome. We are thrilled because it is the best thing for Tiger. This little girl has never been happier. She has got her sisters and has wonderful extended family connections."

The house that Paula Yates lived and died in, at St Lukes Mews is up for sale. The mews home is being sold with all its contents for £595.000. It is just as it was the day TV star Paula died and includes beds, poster of her late partner Michael Hutchence, handbags and personal photos and possessions.

Paula who died from a cocktail of drugs was found sprawled across her bed by her four-year-old daughter Tiger Lily. Potential buyers are walking through her house as though they were visiting a museum, nothing has been changed since that very day, children's toys and clothes are scattered on the floor of the girl's bedroom, mugs and cups and still on the draining board. Along the walls there are montage of pictures and photographs of Paula's daughters.

Close friend and agent Belinda Brewin put the house on the market; she is also representing Paula's estate. She had removed all of Paula's clothes and the pillow containing Michael Hutchence's ashes, but nothing else.

"The money from the sale will go into an estate set up by Paula in her will" Brewin said. The money from the sale is expected to be divided between Paula's daughters - who are now all being cared for by Paula's ex-hubby, Live Aid hero Sir Bob Geldof.

Paula Yates said she would sue Michael Hutchence's family if their new biography about him contains defamatory statements about her. A source close to Paula said "It's highly unlikely the book (Just A Man; The Real Michael Hutchence) will have anything nice to say about her, but she won't hesitate in taking legal action.

Paula Yates and Sir Bob Geldof showed a united front for sports day at their daughter's school. Also watching and cheering Peaches, 11, and Pixie, 9, compete in the egg and spoon and relay races was their three year old half-sister, Tiger Lily.
Other famous faces in the crowd were Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon and his model wife Yasmin, whose children attend the same school

Paula Yates expressed disappointment at the news that the dispute over her late lover Michael Hutchence's will had been settled out of court without consulting her. Paula will receive £400.000 and her daughter Tiger Lily will inherit £2million when she comes of age. Paula insisted that she did not want her £400.000 share saying all the money should go to Tiger Lily.

Paula Robbed At Knifepoint - 18/05/00

Paula bravely chased off two muggers who robbed her best pal at knifepoint. Paula,40, ran after the men when they snatched a £7.000 Cartier watch from Belinda Brewin,

Both Paula and Belinda gave chase, the brave pair caught the yobs as they jumped into the getaway car, they managed to get the keys out of the ignition forcing the thiefs to flee on feet. It was then that a male pal gave chase and forced the yobs to return the watch.

The incident happened outside Belinda's home in Holland Park, Notting Hill. Paula was quoted as saying "They were very scary and very big-but they bit off more than they could chew. We were very frightened but me and Belinda weren't going to let them get away with it. We just ran after them and scared them off.

Paula was unhurt but shaken after the incident, whilst Belinda was treated for cuts and bruises.
