Will snubs young fans? - Dec 19 2007
Will Young has apparently been accused of abandoning his younger fans.

According to the Daily Mirror, Scott Mils has accused the singer - who used to be so adored by his young fans - of snubbing his adolescent supporters and making them cry.

The Radio 1 DJ is quoted as saying: "Will used to be a nice bloke. I don’t know who he’s been hanging out with."

Apparently the two were together at the performing arts school Bitterne Park but when Will turned up, Scott said: "He refused to meet any of the children, banned all cameras and had loads of kids in tears."

According to a radio source, everyone at the school had been very excited that Will was there. But the source added: "There was really no point in him coming at all.

"A lot of the children had been really looking forward to it, but they went home disappointed. Some of them were even crying."

Will single again? - Dec 7 2007

It seems Will Young will be spending Christmas as a singleton this year.

The Pop Idol winner apparently split up with partner Conor two weeks ago and has since been on the look-out for romance, reports the Daily Mirror.

The pair have apparently been dating on and off for two years, but it seems Will told friends of the split while partying at the Bungalow 8 nightclub in London.

Will, who beat Gareth Gates to the Pop Idol title in 2002, is quoted as saying: "Conor and I are sadly not together any more. So I’m single and ready to have fun."

The 28-year-old is currently working on his fourth album, due out in May.

He won the hearts of millions of teenage girls when he won the talent show, but three months later confirmed he was gay.

He told a tabloid newspaper at the time: "It’s totally no big deal, just part of who I am."

Will: I’ve got a slight paunch - Sept 25 2007

Many men of a certain age tend to put on a bit of a tummy - and it seems Will Young is no exception.

The Pop Idol winner has apparently declared he’s less than happy with his look in a tight wetsuit.

"I’ve got a place on the south coast of Cornwall," the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

"I’ve just got into surfing. I actually managed to stand up on the board the other day. I’m a bit worried though. I think I’ve got a slight paunch developing beneath the wetsuit - not a good look. I’ll have to get rid of that."

The 28-year-old has been out of the spotlight recently and has been enjoying his down time.

He wrote on his website: "It’s sporadic at the moment, but I relish that. There’s been some going out, I went to see some dance and there are a couple of theatre things I want to go to - something by the people who did Theatre In The Park With George.

"I’ve also been doing up places, getting things for houses and wondering why you get these things that cost you money."

Will’s Gorilla Encounter - 9 July 2007
Will Young has apparently been attacked by a jealous rival - in the form of a gorilla.

The Pop Idol star was filming for the BBC Saving Planet Earth series at a gorilla orphanage in Cameroon, when one of the creatures erupted into a jealous rage.

"One of the gorillas kept making this noise that meant she fancied me," The Sun quoted him as saying.  "It didn’t go down too well with the males. One gave me this look out of the corner of his eye, and flung a huge rock against the fence right in front of my face."

Biography

Will Young was born in Reading/Wokingham, Berkshire, with a non-identical twin, Rupert. He also has an older sister, Emma. He was educated at Horris Hill preparatory school and Wellington College.

Will Young read Politics at the University of Exeter. At university, some of his haunts included Timepiece, The Old Firehouse, and Harry's, where he used to work. In September 2001, he became a student at The Arts Educational Schools in Chiswick, London, starting a three-year course in musical theatre with a scholarship.

In February 2002 Young came to national prominence by winning the ITV television programme contest Pop Idol.

Contrary to press claims of being the under-dog, Will did not come from behind to win the contest. After having beaten the widely-accepted front-runner Gareth Gates in the final show, it emerged that Will had in fact gained the most votes in six out of the nine rounds of public voting. This was published in the "Pop Idol" book which was released shortly after the programme.
