  • Profession: Actor
  • Place/Date of Birth: Oxford, 1967

Biography

An alumnus of the Cambridge Footlights troupe, Hollander made his name playing various compelling baddies on the London stage. In 92 he won the prestigious Ian Charleson award for his performance in The Way of The World at the Lyric, Hammersmith. His film roles have lurched from the risible True Blue to the British rom-com Martha Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence. The story goes he went to the gym to prepare for his role in this as he didn’t want to look like "the short, fat, ugly one" next to smouldering co-stars Joseph Fiennes and Rufus Sewell. He starred as a surly British diplomat in Terry George’s troubles movie, Some Mother’s Son and most recently played Kevin McKidd’s super-camp flatmate in Rose Troche’s Bedrooms and Hallways. He also appeared in the Ben Elton adaptation, Maybe Baby. He has been spotted in the past year learning lines over a mug of tea in Coins, and our source says he’s even cuter in the flesh. What’s the male equivalent of ’pocket venus’, anyway?
