However Fletcher wasn’t to stay a small fish in a big pond for long.  Following a lead role in the Martin Amis adaptation, The Rachel Papers, he nabbed the part of cocky American Spike in children’s series Press Gang.  The show ran from 1989 to 1993 and made the actor an unforgettable childhood memory for a nation of twenty somethings.  During his kids TV reign he also presented a series of computer game show GamesMaster.  However he was considered to enthusiastic for the world of geekery and was soon replaced.

After some time making little dent on tv and film Fletcher returned to the big screen, appearing in Guy Ritchie’s hit gangster flick Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.  He followed this up with a part in Band of Brothers, as well as several other TV and film parts.  In 2006 he took on a lead part in the BBC’s Hotel Babylon.  In addition he became the envy of a nation’s men appearing alongside Kylie in the video for her Some Kind of Bliss single.

During his time on Press Gang Fletcher dated costar Julia Sawalha and has also been linked to Liza Walker.
