What’s new for Alex? - 12/01/04
Fame Academy winner Alex Parks spent New Year at home in Cornwall with her family, but she is now back with a fully packed schedule.

She is poised to begin promoting her next single ’Cry’, which will be released on February 16th. Alex wrote the track after winning Fame Academy last October. She will be aiming to beat her debut single’s chart position, which was Maybe That’s What It Takes and reached number three. But before all this takes place, Alex is going to enjoy a holiday.

A cruise holiday was part of the prize for winning Fame Academy, but typically Alex wanted to change it to do things her way, so she and a pal are going to enjoy a weeks snowboarding instead. Much more her thing!

BIOGRAPHY

Alex Parks was born on the 26th July 1984 and is from the village of Mount Hawke in Cornwall. Alex originally thought about being a teacher, and went to theatre school learning circus skills such as clowning, juggling and physical theatre. But at age 14 (when incidentally she realized she was a lesbian), she also realized she could sing, and fronted a band called One Trick Pony.

They gigged round the local pubs, but didn’t last. Alex’s father decided to send a demo tape of her singing to the producers of Fame Academy 2003 and she was accepted. Now she has won, she is automatically rewarded with a recording deal and a house in Notting Hill for a year (I do hope David Sneddon - last years winner - didn’t leave any old socks behind) to kick start her ambition. Her first single is due out soon...
